Real Madrid playmaker Vinicius Junior will wear the Number 7 shirt for the Blancos next season, News About Nigeria reports.

Madrid’s number 7 jersey is remarkable for the quality of players that have donned it over the years, especially Cristiano Ronaldo, who now plays for Saudi Pro League club, Al Nassr.

After Ronaldo left Madrid, Chelsea legend Eden Hazard received the shirt with so much pride in August 2019 but unfortunately, became a shadow of himself throughout his time at the club and eventually decided to leave on a mutual agreement last season.

His departure has now paved the way for Vinicius who had formerly spotted the number 20 jersey after joining the Spanish giants in 2018 from Flamengo.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has been on top of his game, with remarkable contributions to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

His rise to popularity in Madrid is consequent upon an unwavering impact he has had on the club, making him emerge as one of the world’s most promising players.

Vinicius has already scored 59 goals in 225 appearances for his club, with Champions League and domestic league titles to boast of.

He is expected to give up his number 20 shirt for Fran Garcia following his return to the Bernabeu from Rayo Vallecano, while fellow Brazilian Rodrygo is being upgraded from 21 to 11.

Vinícius Junior’s football career has been marked by remarkable breakthroughs with his father being very helpful too.

Vinícius joined Flamengos in 2006, when his father took him to the club’s branch office, in the neighborhood of Mutua, in Sao Gonçalo where he lived at the time.
