Chelsea have now renewed their race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, after they were beaten by an offer initiated by Paris Saint-Germain to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte, News About Nigeria reports.

In a new update emanating from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are willing to fight for Brighton’s creative midfielder for a whooping sum of £80m.

Caicedo had earlier been on Chelsea’s radar just before the end of the 2022/23 season before the club found another option of investment in Manuel Ugarte.

However, with the second option now off the table, Chelsea is set to make the bold move to bolster its midfield after a distasteful campaign last season, even with their bloated squad with notable names.

With the new boss Mauricio Pochettino coming in, he will hope to put up his own imprint, however, this may also include laying off several high-profile stars in the club, to bring in his own and Caicedo seems to be among his interests.

While Mauricio Pochettino is a big admirer of Caicedo, Chelsea’s new staff recruit Joe Shields, is pushing for a move for Lavia, having taken the Belgian to the south coast from Manchester City.

Recall that Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs with an eye for Caicedo. Liverpool has largely concluded the signing of the 21-year-old’s teammate Mac Allister and is willing to maintain a move to get him too.

However, the fight is far from over, as none of the clubs have made a major move to sign a deal with the much talked about player, as talks continue in the background.
