The incident is a stark reminder of the need for proper safety measures in public places, and authorities must work to prevent such disasters from happening again.

According to an eyewitness, the fire outbreak was due to an electrical spark from one of the shops. He said,

“We battled endlessly to put out the fire but to no avail. We later sought the assistance of the state and federal services to put the situation under control.”

“As I am talking to you now, men of the fire service are still moving around with water tankers and the losses are enormous. We can’t quantify now.” He added.
