Frank Edwards also said that on several occasions, the late Ekueme singer’s husband was in the habit of publicly insulting his wife.

Describing an encounter with the singer, Frank said, “One time in a studio, this man slapped her in the studio just because she wanted to record the song in Igbo against his will. She does not do anything on her own.”

“She would say, please beg my husband. She was at his mercy. I didn’t know the intensity of what she was going through; I didn’t know how somebody would be jealous of their wife or claim to love.

Kemi Olunloyo, a controversial Nigerian blogger, alleged that Frank Edwards was Osinachi’s secret lover and that her husband knew about their affair.

In an interview with BBC Igbo, the deceased mother, Madam Madu, also alleged that Peter Nwachukwu physically abused her late daughter. she claimed that Peter had vowed that Osinachi could leave their marriage only after death. She also alleged that Peter did not allow family members from the wife to visit. In her interview, Madam Madu mentioned that Peter did not inform the family when Osinachi died and that they heard it from an outsider.

She upheld that Peter’s maltreatment of her daughter was unbearable; and that he threatened to kill her countlessly. She said that whenever they pulled Osinachi out of that marriage, the husband would come pleading for her return, which she had always rejected, but that Osinachi would insist on going back as there is no splitting a union ordained by God.
