Bobrisky: EFCC Launches Investigation Into Bribery Allegations

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has launched an investigation into bribery allegations by popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, against some officers of the Commission.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency confirmed that Olukoyede has appointed a team of investigators to probe the accusations.

The investigation follows a viral video of a phone conversation between Bobrisky and Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky alleged that certain EFCC officers extorted N15 million from him in exchange for dropping money laundering charges.

Bobrisky claimed that EFCC operatives demanded the sum of N15 million as a condition for withdrawing the charges.

“They charged me to court. So we begged them that if they wanted to remove the money laundering charge, how much would they collect, and they said N15 million,” he stated in the video.

In response, the EFCC has invited both Bobrisky and Otse to its Lagos office to assist in the investigation.

The Commission also assured the public that the findings of the investigation would be made public upon completion.

The EFCC’s statement reads: “In a swift reaction, the EFCC boss has constituted a team of investigators to critically examine the allegations. Both Okuneye and Otse are invited to make themselves available at the Commission’s Lagos Directorate to assist investigators in uncovering the truth behind the alleged bribery.

“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and the findings will be disclosed accordingly. The Commission remains committed to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration.”

News About Nigeria reported earlier that the EFCC had dropped the money laundering charges against Bobrisky a few months ago before he was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse.
