On Wednesday, the Ogun State Police Command revealed how an accident claimed the life of a driver who is identified as Bello Lukman, and left three others with various degrees of injuries, News About Nigeria reports.
According to the police, the accident happened at Oju-Ore, along Idiroko Road in the Ota area of Ogun State.
Giving details on the tragedy, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, revealed that the accident happened at about 8:45 pm on Monday while the driver was attempting to properly park the vehicle.
The driver, who was alone in the car, had rammed into three pedestrians identified as Ojo Isaac, Ladan Musa Moses, and Tunde Adio, leaving them hospitalised with various degrees of injuries.
Odutola explained that the Honda shuttle car, with the number plate TTD 537 AE, driven by Lukman, was parked at the roadside when he attempted to reposition it, adding that it was during the process that he lost control of the steering and hit the pedestrians standing nearby.
As a result, the pedestrians sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the State Hospital in Ota for urgent medical treatment.
Odutola said, “Tragically, Ojo Isaac passed away while receiving treatment. His death was confirmed by the attending doctor, and his body was later transferred to the mortuary at General Hospital, Ifo, for an autopsy.”
“The accident scene has been inspected, a rough sketch map created, photographs taken, and the vehicle recovered for VIO inspection. Police investigations are still ongoing,” he added.
