IPOB Calls For Release Of Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on the Federal Government to release its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, from detention, News About Nigeria reports.

IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, made this call in a statement, noting that the leader is facing health challenges.

He lamented that Kanu’s health is deteriorating in detention and called for his immediate release from detention to avoid severe consequences.

Emma Powerful also alleged that the Nigerian government, judiciary, DSS operatives, and some Igbo politicians are plotting to eliminate Kanu.

He warned that the country and those behind Kanu’s detention would face dire consequences if anything happened to him while in custody.

The group also called on the international community and human rights organisations to intervene and secure Kanu’s release.

Kanu’s continued detention, despite court declarations of its illegality, has sparked concerns about his health and well-being. IPOB assured that the struggle for Biafran self-determination would continue unabated, despite Kanu’s detention.

“It has become very obvious that the Nigerian government, the Nigerian judiciary, the DSS operatives, and some Igbo politicians are all together in a plot to eliminate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. These people should know the consequences of any harm befalling Mazi Nnamdi Kanu while in their custody.

“We have repeatedly demanded for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu as ordered by the Nigerian Appeal Court, which discharged and acquitted him of all charges. Similarly, the Supreme Court had ruled that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu did not jump bail. The same Apex Court declared his abduction and extraordinary rendition from Kenya to Nigeria illegal,” the statement reads in part.
