The National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Dele Oye Esq., has called on the organised private sector of Nigeria and other stakeholders to actively promote peace and discourage violence amid plans for a nationwide protest over the rising cost of living and economic hardship, News About Nigeria reports.
In a statement, Oye stressed the importance of maintaining stability, noting that crises benefit no one.
He appealed to stakeholders to encourage their local communities, cities, and states to avoid violence.
“In light of the anticipated protests across Nigeria, NACCIMA earnestly appeals to all our partners, the organised private sector of Nigeria, and our members to play a proactive role in encouraging their local communities, cities, and states to maintain peace and refrain from any form of violence,” Oye stated.
He said NACCIMA’s close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, recognises the impact of unrest on both government and businesses.
Oye said, “As stakeholders in the economic and social stability of our nation, it is crucial to understand that no one can benefit from a crisis situation.”
Oye urged stakeholders to spread messages of peace and advocate for dialogue and non-violent approaches to resolving conflicts.
He also encouraged all Chambers and corporate members to issue similar calls for peace within their networks.
“By fostering a peaceful environment, we can ensure the continued growth and stability of our economy and society. Let us work together to embrace peace and safeguard our collective future,” he added.
