Fresh Twist As Court Orders Eviction Of Kano Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi, From Palace

The Kano Government House is currently witnessing a heavy security presence due to the ongoing royal dispute between Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

News About Nigeria learned that security operatives have taken strategic positions around the facility, although movement in and out of the premises remains unrestricted.

The Chief Security Officer to the Governor was seen moving about, visibly disturbed, and declined to comment on the situation.

It has also been learned that top security operatives who had earlier met with Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, are currently inside the government house for another meeting.

Emir Sanusi led Jumat prayers at Government House before moving to the palace.

But just a few hours after Sanusi entered the palace, Ado Bayero arrived in the state and settled into a mini-palace. Military protection was eventually provided for him.

Meanwhile, Governor Abba Yusuf, who accompanied Emir Muhammadu Sanusi to the palace, is still present at the palace.

The governor’s convoy was spotted inside the palace just moments ago.

Yusuf had earlier requested that the police arrest Ado Bayero for “creating tension,” but the police have vowed to uphold the court order preventing Sanusi’s reinstatement.

On Thursday, a Federal High Court in Kano issued an ex-parte order restraining Governor Abba Yusuf from reinstating Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Justice Mohammed Liman, who gave the order, also halted the implementation of the new law that abolished the four emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano.

However, while issuing a reappointment letter to Sanusi on Friday, Governor Abba Yusuf disputed the order, claiming that the judge issued it from the United States.

The governor has vowed to report the judge, whom he accuses of abusing his authority.

The deputy governor of the state, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has accused the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, of facilitating the return of the deposed Emir.

Gwarzo alleged that the NSA supplied two jets to transport Ado Bayero to Kano.

“The National Security Adviser gave two jets to bring the deposed emir to Kano and to bring him to the place. We don’t understand their intention,” he stated.
