The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has revealed that 30 terrorists kingpins were killed in an operation it carried out in Borno state, News About Nigeria reports.

According to a statement signed by the force’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Edward Gabkwet on Tuesday in Abuja, the air component of Operation Hadarin Kai (OPHK) executed the operation.

The statement shared that the operation was carried out with precision as the airstrike was able to hit the hideouts of ISWAP terrorists, killing over 30 of their fighters within Kolleram village along the shores of Lake Chad.

It was also stated that the operation was carried out on the 13th of April, 2024

Gabkwet further noted that among those killed were some senior commanders of the insurgents including Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah, and Mallam Ari.

He further noted that the air force recovered numerous vehicles, motorcycles, and logistical assets from the terrorists.

The statement reads, “Intelligence gathered after the air strike further indicated that the aerial bombardment effectively obliterated a key facility within the Kolleram enclave, which served as a hub for the terrorists’ food processing activities, including grinding machines. By neutralising key terrorist figures and destroying their logistical infrastructure, the operation has significantly degraded the capabilities of the ISWAP group in the region.”

He further noted that the successful airstrikes shows the NAF’s commitment to ridding Nigeria of terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of every citizen.

Gabkwet, therefore, stated that the NAF would not relent until their mission of securing the nation is met.
