Ex-Nasarawa State Guber Candidate Ombugadu Reacts To Calls To Become PDP Nat'l Chairman

Former candidate for governorship in Nasarawa State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) banner, David Ombugadu, has reacted to calls urging him to consider running for the position of party’s national chairman.

Ombugadu, in a statement released on Saturday, acknowledged the calls to vie for the position and expressed gratitude for the support, News About Nigeria reports.

While acknowledging the calls, Ombugadu clarified that he has not yet made a decision to enter the race.

He assured the public of his commitment to serve when duty calls, reaffirming his loyalty to the party’s leadership.

He said, “In view of the fact that I have a lot to offer and have always responded to clarion calls by our people to serve in different capacities, I’d like to inform the general public that, though my hat is not in the ring, I have heard your voices loud and clear but I have not succumbed yet to the calls to run for the position of National Chairman of our party.”

He extended gratitude to party leaders and supporters for their endorsements and encouraged them to remain hopeful amidst the party’s challenges, expressing confidence in a brighter future for the PDP.

Ombugadu also commended the efforts of various party organs and members across all levels for their dedication and support.

He said, “I want to once again salute the contributions of the BOT, NWC, NEC, state governors and state chapters, LGA and ward level members,  as well as all exco members of the PDP across the nation, especially the Nasarawa state PDP for consistently standing with us with such remarkable focus towards achieving victory.”

On Wednesday, a faction within the PDP urged the party’s leadership to nominate David Ombugadu as the national chairman.

The group, led by Hussein Mohammed, Moses Abidemi, and Dan Okafor as president, secretary, and publicity secretary, respectively, said Ombugadu has the potential to revive the PDP and uphold its core principles.
