Osun Governor Appoints Actress Laide Bakare As Senior Special Assistant

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed Nollywood actress Laide Bakare as the Senior Special Assistant on entertainment, art, culture, and tourism, News About Nigeria reports.x

The actress shared the news through her Instagram account on Friday, expressing gratitude for the trust and opportunity given to her to serve in the state.

In her Instagram post, Bakare posted pictures of herself with Governor Adeleke, thanking him for the appointment and promising to deliver her best in her new role.

She wrote, “Now an Honourable. Ya Allah, I am grateful to my new boss, Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke, Imole Osun. Thank you so much for the trust and opportunity to serve. I promise to deliver my best. So help me God. Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State on entertainment, art, culture, and tourism.”

The actress acknowledged the commencement of her political career, stating, “Lot of work to be done. Shall we? The entire good people of Osun state and Nigeria at large. It’s actually a new dawn for me starting my political career from here. God bless Nigeria.”

This appointment follows a trend in Nigeria, where governors have appointed popular entertainers to key positions.

In 2017, former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, appointed Mercy Johnson-Okogie as his Senior Special Assistant on entertainment, arts, and culture.

Earlier in January 2024, the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, appointed Nigerian singer Harrysong as his Executive Assistant on Entertainment.

Harrysong, in a post on Instagram, shared his appointment letter and expressed gratitude to the Delta State Governor for believing in him and entrusting him with the responsibility.
