Dangote Refinery: Refined Products to Be Sold in Naira, Say Oil Marketers

The seven major oil marketers in Nigeria have completed the registration process with the Dangote Petroleum Refinery for the lifting and distribution of refined petroleum products from the $20 billion facility.

News About Nigeria gathered that the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria confirmed on Sunday that the dealers would initiate the distribution of fuel produced by the refinery once commercial terms are finalised.

Among the seven major marketers registered with the Dangote Refinery are 11 Plc, Conoil Plc, Ardova Plc, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, OVH Energy Marketing Limited, Total Nigeria Plc, and NNPC Retail.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) are also engaging with the refinery to establish terms for product loading.

On Friday, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced the commencement of production of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) and JetA1 (aviation fuel).

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and various regulatory bodies for their support in realising the project.

Dangote said that the refinery’s products would meet Euro V specifications and that production milestones marked a significant achievement for Nigeria.

The refinery, situated in Lagos, has received six million barrels of crude oil at its two Single Point Mooring (SPM) locations since December 12, 2023.

The facility is capable of loading 2,900 trucks per day, adhering to international emission norms.

With a daily refining capacity of 650,000 barrels of crude oil, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is poised to play a transformative role in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
