The Niger State Child Rights Agency has recounted how a newborn baby boy was found dead in the Fadikwe area opposite the Kure ultramodern market in Minna, Niger State.

According to the agency, passersby found the baby in a carton with his placenta still attached to him.

The agency further explained that passersby noticed the carton that had been lying there for a long time and decided to look at what was inside only to find the newborn baby inside it.

Following the discovery, the baby was rushed to the hospital, where he was examined and confirmed dead by doctors.

The passersby then contacted the agency, giving a detailed report of how the dead newborn was discovered in the carton.

The Niger State Child Rights Agency further revealed that the baby was subsequently buried by the agency following the doctor’s pronouncement,

They also noted that they have reported the incident to the GRA Police station in the area for proper and detailed investigation to fish out the mother of the newborn baby.

Confirming the incident, the state police command condemned it and also assured that they would swing into action to ensure that they apprehend the perpetrators of the inhumane act against the baby.

News About Nigeria reported that a similar incidence of a newborn baby being dumped occurred in the state on December 3, 2023, but the baby boy was discovered by passersby when he was still alive.

According to reports, the one-day-old baby boy was discovered around the Tayi Area of Minna, Niger State and was luckily rescued a few minutes after he was dumped.
