The Lagos State Task Force has dispersed a birthday party in Yaba for obstructing the road, and it now warns of imminent arrests for such activities.

News About Nigeria gathered that officials of the Lagos State Taskforce recently took action against a birthday celebration in Yaba, disrupting the event that had occupied 95% of the road, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to other road users.

In a statement signed by the agency’s Director, Press and Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the Chairman of the task force, CSP Shola Jejeloye, condemned the ‘selfish and inconsiderate’ act of those who block streets for social events, causing discomfort to law-abiding citizens.

Jejeloye highlighted areas like Lagos Island, Oworonshoki, and Agege as hotspots for such activities.

He warned that the task force would intensify efforts to curb such actions.

“It is highly unacceptable that one would selfishly and ignorantly cordone off an entire street to throw parties and social events and thereby causing noise pollution and traffic in the area.

“It is the height of irresponsibility and henceforth, anyone caught carrying out such a foolish act will be arrested and charged to the mobile court immediately,” the statement read.

The chairman warned that anyone caught blocking streets for celebrations would be arrested and charged to the mobile court immediately.

He urged Lagosians to report any road-blocking activities to the nearest police station or the Lagos State Taskforce for prompt action.

The crackdown is part of efforts to maintain order on Lagos roads and ensure the free flow of traffic.
