The Rivers State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the murder of a 13-year-old female student, whose lifeless body was discovered in a shallow grave in Amaku-Mba community, Etche Local Government Area.

News About Nigeria gathered that the victim, an SS1 student at Community Secondary School, Okehi, Etche, was reportedly kidnapped on her way home after running an errand for her parents on Tuesday morning.

Although the details of the incident remain unclear, it is reported that the perpetrators abducted the girl and dragged her into a nearby bush, where she met her tragic end.

The Chairman of the Community Development Association of Amaku-Mba, Kingsley Anyanwu, expressed the shattered tranquillity of the community and urged security agencies to apprehend the culprits, ensuring they face the full force of the law.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Etche Local Government Area, Robinson Oluo, condemned the heinous act and disclosed that one suspect had been arrested in connection with the crime. The arrested suspect is currently held at the Okehi Divisional Police Station.

In response to the tragic event, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, affirmed the incident and the arrest of a suspect.

She stated that an investigation is underway to determine the immediate and underlying causes of the crime.

Iringe-Koko provided additional details, revealing that the victim had gone to purchase meat in an abattoir, and when she did not return at the expected time, her parents raised the alarm.

The police, upon investigation, discovered her body in a shallow grave near an uncompleted building, leading to the arrest of one suspect.

The victim’s remains have been deposited in a morgue as the investigation progresses.
