There have been reports on the outcomes of the meeting of peace between the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

News About Nigeria reports that the PDP governors met Wike in the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday while on a troubleshooting mission to try to mediate a reconciliation between him and his estranged godson, Rivers State governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Leading his colleagues from Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, and Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, to the meeting was Bala Mohammed, the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and the governor of Bauchi state.

In an interview with Punch, a source suggested that Wike told the governors about his complaints against Fubara, and they, in turn, begged him to let peace return to Rivers State.

The insider, who spoke under anonymity, stated that Wike charged Fubara with working with his adversaries to topple his political system.

According to the source, “Wike told the governors how hard he worked to make sure Fubara replaced him, but now the governor of Rivers State is putting his political adversaries in charge and destroying his political system in an attempt to topple him.

“To ensure that there is peace, President Tinubu gave Governors Fubara and Wike some proposals. Thus, the governors decided to await the outcome and schedule a similar meeting with the governor of Rivers State”.

President Bola Tinubu intervened on Tuesday in the schism between Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara and his predecessor in office, Nyesom Wike, that had thrown the state into a political crisis this week.

President Tinubu was able to use the opportunity of the Police Council meeting, which both Wike and Fubara attended as members, to mediate and try to end the feud between the two political allies.

However, reports have it that both Wike and Fubara are still at loggerheads.
