As the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) prepares for the commencement of its 2023 Batch C Stream I orientation course, Gombe State is gearing up to host no fewer than 1,487 prospective corps members.

News About Nigeria gathered that the three-week orientation course, which is mandatory for all corps members, is set to open nationwide on November 1, with an expected conclusion on November 21, 2023.

In a press statement signed by Jennifer Laha, the Head of the Public Relations Unit in the state, it was revealed that the orientation course for Gombe State will take place at the NYSC’s temporary orientation camp, Science Technical College, Amada, in the Akko Local Government Area.

The statement further highlighted that the formal opening and swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

During this ceremony, the state Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, will preside over the event, and the state’s Chief Judge, Halima Mohammed, will administer the oath of allegiance to the corps members deployed to Gombe State for their national service.

The orientation camp will provide the prospective corps members with training, guidance, and essential knowledge for their upcoming service year.

Jennifer Laha, while assuring the Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) of their safety during the orientation course, urged for the customary cooperation of stakeholders to ensure the comfort and well-being of the 1,487 participants.

She also appealed to the people of Gombe State, especially those residing around Akko Local Government Area, to extend their renowned hospitality to the corps members.

“We, therefore, enjoin the peace-loving people of Gombe state especially those around Akko LGA and environs to accord the prospective corps members the usual hospitality that Gombe state is known for,” Laha said.
