Manchester United Legend Wayne Rooney has expressed his enthusiasm for Lionel Messi‘s move to Inter Miami, according to reports from News About Nigeria.

The manager of DC United acknowledged that Messi remains the greatest footballer to have ever played the game, even after his time playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

Messi recently signed with Inter Miami in a deal that will see him earn approximately $60 million per year, following a failed reunion with his former club, Barcelona.

The $60 million fee includes Messi’s salary, a stake in the Major League Soccer side (MLS), and a signing bonus.

Rooney, a former Manchester United star aged 37, praised Messi as the most exciting player to watch in the history of football. He shared his thoughts on Messi’s imminent arrival at Inter Miami.

Rooney believes that Messi’s presence will attract global interest to the league and result in significant commercial opportunities for his club.

He expressed that everyone in the league is eagerly anticipating watching Messi play in America.

“It is a fantastic move for the MLS. Commercially, it will have a huge impact and draw interest from different regions of the world. You are getting arguably the best player to ever grace the game.”

“I am certain he will come here with the ambition to be competitive and help Miami climb up the league table.”

“I believe that not only fans but also coaches and players are thrilled to have him in the league.”

Following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Messi joined Inter Miami after the French Ligue 1 champions were unable to extend his stay due to a brief disagreement towards the end of last season.

Messi’s contract with Inter Miami is set to run from July 1, 2023, until late December 2025.
