US mayor has declared  July 7th as Davido Day in his honour in the United States, News About Nigeria reports.

The Afrobeats musician, who is now on tour in support of his new album, played at the Toyota Centre in Houston, effectively shutting down the city.

Following the sold-out event, the 7th of July has been designated as ‘Davido’s Day’ in Houston. This was announced by the city’s mayor, who praised him for his important contributions to the music industry.

Wizkid, Davido’s adversary, also has a day dedicated to him in the United States.

In 2018, the governor of the United States announced October 6th to be Wizkid Day.

“The City of Houston commends Davido on his significant contributions to the music industry, and as signed by the Mayor of the city of Houston, every 7th of July is now ‘Davido Day’. ✍️ ❤️”
