In a remarkable feat, 15-year-old Lotanna Azuokeke has broken a five-year jinx by scoring the highest mark ever recorded in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted in 2023.

Azuokeke, a student of Bishop Otubelu Juniorate, scored a staggering 337 out of 400 points, surpassing the previous record held since 2018.

As a result of his outstanding performance, Azuokeke has been offered a fully funded scholarship to study medicine at Godfrey Okoye University (GOU) in Enugu state.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, announced the scholarship on Friday, May 5, at an event where a student was also made Vice Chancellor of the institution for a day, News About Nigeria gathered.

“We are pleased to offer Lotanna Azuokeke a scholarship to study medicine at Godfrey Okoye University. His excellent performance in the UTME has shown that he is a bright student who deserves our support,” said Rev. Fr. Anieke.

Azuokeke’s remarkable performance was due to his exceptional scores in the four subjects tested in the UTME.

He scored 99 points in mathematics, 86 in physics, 88 in chemistry, and 64 in English.

The scholarship offer from GOU is a recognition of Azuokeke’s academic prowess and a demonstration of the university’s commitment to supporting exceptional students.

It is expected that Azuokeke will take advantage of this opportunity to further his academic pursuits and contribute to the development of society.

This come after, Azuokeke was presented with a car by the Vice Chancellor of GOU, Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, at an event held in the university on Friday, May 5.
