Chelsea’s Lampard Reminds Man Utd, Arsenal Fans They Couldn’t Even Qualified After Champions League Defeat

After losing 4-0 on aggregate to Real Madrid on Tuesday, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, appears to be consoling himself by reminding Manchester United and Arsenal fans that their respective clubs have failed to qualify for the Champions League competition for a long time now.

Chelsea was knocked out of the Champions League, after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, maintaining the same scoreline they were beaten in Spain a week ago, News About Nigeria gathered.

The English side is currently 11th in the Premier League and closer to the relegation zone than the top four.

This form gives them no hope of qualifying for any European competition next season.

Recall that both Manchester United and Arsenal have spent several years out of the Europe’s elite clubs’ competition over the past decade.

However, they are set to return to the pinnacle of European football next season with their current positions in the league table.

But Lampard wants Chelsea’s fans to acknowledge the fact that it has not been easy for any of the teams in the Premier League.

Following their defeat to Real Madrid, the former England midfielder was asked if he was confident Chelsea’s absence from the competition would be short-lived, Lampard said, “to say that any given team has this divine right to be in the top-four and in the Champions League, it’s tough.

“Manchester United have spent time out of the Champions League, Arsenal have spent time out of the Champions League. Lots of big clubs have,” he said, insisting it would be pointless predicting what happens going forward.
