The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has attributed the absence of nationwide protests in the state to the effective governance of Governor Dauda Lawal.
News About Nigeria reports that acting chairman, Mukhtar Lugga, stated that the residents of Zamfara are satisfied with the state administration’s performance, citing various initiatives and policies that have positively impacted their lives.
Lugga said the government’s declaration of a state of emergency in education and health, payment of outstanding gratuities, construction and reconstruction of roads, renovation and equipping of schools and hospitals, and intervention in agricultural businesses.
These efforts have contributed to the overall well-being of the citizens, making them less inclined to participate in protests.
While acknowledging the prevailing hardships in the country, Lugga expressed optimism in President Bola Tinubu’s ability to address the socioeconomic challenges.
He emphasised the need for collective efforts from all tiers of government to tackle the situation.
Lugga urged the people to remain law-abiding and prayerful, hoping for the success of leaders in overcoming the country’s challenges.
The peaceful atmosphere in Gusau and other towns in Zamfara State, with no protests recorded on the second day of the planned demonstrations, underscores the citizens’ confidence in their state government.
“In addition to what the state government is doing, we will continue to pray for the president to succeed in fixing the country’s economy.
“Hardship is everywhere, but all tiers of government are taking necessary measures to tackle the situation,” Lugga said.
He also urged the people to continue to be law-abiding and pray for leaders to succeed in overcoming the challenges affecting the country.
Gusau and other towns in the state have been quiet, with no one showing up for the demonstration on Friday, the second day of the activity that is expected to continue until August 10.
