Two residents of Gwargwada village in Kuje Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have been killed by kidnappers after a delay in ransom payment.

News About Nigeria gathered that the victims, Mohammed Danladi and Nasiru Yusuf, were abducted along with a herder and a woman at Gwombe Junction on the Gwargwada-Rubochi road.

The kidnappers initially demanded N500,000 for each victim, but their families could only gather N500,000 in total.

A relative, Shuaibu Abdullahi, said the kidnappers informed them on Friday about the demand, unaware that the two men had already been killed.

He said, “The kidnappers’ leader called on Friday, and the family members told them that they were only able to raise N500,000 not knowing that they had already killed two of them because the family delayed the ransom.”

Meanwhile, the herder and the woman were released after their families paid N3 million at a hideout in Kotonkarfe forest, Kogi State.

The traditional ruler of Gwargwada, Ugbada Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, confirmed the incident.

He said efforts were being made to recover the victims’ bodies, with local hunters and vigilantes mobilized into the forest.

He said:

Unfortunately, the two young men were killed by their abductors simply because of the delay in paying the ransom they demanded.

‘’Their corpses are yet to be recovered because the victims were taken to Kotonkarfe forest in Kogi State but I learnt that the chairman of Kotonkarfe had mobilized hunters and vigilantes into the forest but they are yet to recover the two corpses.”
