Nollywood actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot has debunked news making the rounds that he is gay, News About Nigeria reports.

Recall that the internet went frenzy after a popular blog released a list of Nigerian male celebrities who are allegedly involved with the same sex.

The list had left many netizens in shock wondering it’s authenticity as top celebrities and politicians who are married were also named.

Notable of such are Politicians like; Atiku Abubakar, Babaginda, Gospel singers Peterson Okpobi, Ebuka Song, Gozie Okeke among others.

Also, Popular Nigerian host, Ebuka Uchendu, and singer Flavour Nabania made it to the list alongside several others.

Reacting to the controversial list, Elliot noted that he is straight and has never been gay.

Speaking in an interview with TVC today (Friday), the politician noted that the allegation was “baseless” and fueled by “malicious gossip.”

He further noted that he has been quiet on the matter because he has far more pressing issues to focus on especially his political career and how to serve his people better.

“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life? Secondly, it is an opinion that is being conceived. And I don’t think it is necessary for me to come out and say it’s true or not true; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good. So let me state it very clearly that I am straight,” he stated.

The actor further tasked the general public to stop believing every ‘junk’ they see on social media, adding that they should always verify before believing anything they see.
