The Governor of Rivers State, Governor Siminilayi Fubara, has stated that the devil is working hard to derail him and other members of his government from doing their job for the good people of Rivers State, News About Nigeria reports.

He made this known in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Nelson Chukwudi, on Sunday.

He noted that the devil is always at war, working against those in governance and urged the people to always pray for him and all those in positions of leadership.

Fubara, who noted these while speaking at the 51st birthday ceremony of the founder of Omega Power Ministry, Chibuzor Chinyere in Port Harcourt on Sunday, also revealed the real reason behind his frosty relationship with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister.

He disclosed that the real reason for the crisis that has been ongoing in the State since he came to power is the battle for the control of the State’s resources.

According to him, the narrative that the crisis is a result of the fight over the control of the political structure in the oil-rich state is false.

Nite that the oil-rich Rivers State has been enmeshed in a political crisis for over a year after some lawmakers loyal to Mr Wike attempted to impeach the governor just five months after assuming office.

Fubara however, assured the people of Rivers that the resources in the State belong to them, and maintained that the resources will be applied judiciously for the betterment of the state.

He stated, “There is a reason for this crisis, and that reason is the control of the resources of Rivers State.

“Rivers State resources belong to you, and we will make sure that the resources are applied judiciously for the betterment of Rivers State.

“What you owe us is just one thing – continue to pray for us. Let us not lose focus because we know the devil is always at war to derail people in governance.

Prominent Figures graced the occasion, including Nigeria’s former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, and former Senate President and chairperson of the PDP Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara.
