Igbo Jah: Police Kills Musician In Enugu

An operative of the Enugu State Police Command has killed a Nigerian musician identified as Okezie Mba in the state, News About Nigeria reports.

This was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement on Saturday.

He disclosed that the officer, whose name has been withheld, has been arrested and is currently being detained for the murder of the musician.

Ndukwe noted that the operative is a male inspector serving in the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad of the police in Enugu State.

He stated that the unfortunate incident happened when the victim was leaving the command’s headquarters.

The police spokesman noted that the victim had been to headquarters for a friendly visit when the officer fired his rifle for reasons that are not yet in the clear.

He said, “The musician was reportedly leaving the squad’s headquarters after a friendly visit when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, the police officer fired his rifle, hitting the victim.”

Mr. Mba, also known as Igbo-Jah, was a popular Ogene musician in the state.

A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated that Mr. Mba had attended an event on Friday at the anti-cult unit of the Enugu State Police Command when some police operatives began shooting indiscriminately.
