A couple, Aisha and Ahijo Sulaiman, and one other, identified as Abdulrahman Isah, have been arrested by troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, for allegedly collaborating with terrorists in Taraba State, News About Nigeria reports.

The operation took place on Tuesday, October 15, at Landey Jessy village in Lau Local Government Areas (LGA).

Troops of the 6th Brigade conducted operations around the general area, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

The arrest was reportedly made on intelligence reports of some terrorists’ presence in the Kona mountains, which cut across Jalingo and Lau LGAs.

During interrogation, Aisha confessed that Ahijo’s residence is used for hiding their weapons after operations.

Abdulrahman, on the other hand, was identified by a victim he attempted to kidnap in the Iware community of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State sometime in September 2024.

The Army disclosed that the suspects are currently in military custody undergoing further investigation.

It maintained that it remains committed to the protection of lives and property, as well as the preservation of the nation’s territorial integrity.

It also called on members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies as security operatives work to rid the country of terrorism and other forms of insecurity.

Residents have, however, lamented the growing cases of insecurity in the state and beyond.

There has also been growing concern about increasing ties between jihadists and bandits who are motivated by financial motives with no ideological leaning.

Recall that last month gunmen bombed a rail track, derailing a train and forcing their way into VIP coaches, killing at least eight passengers and abducting dozens.
