Police Foil Station’s Attack In Imo

The Imo State Police Command has foiled an attack on the Njaba Local Government Area Divisional Police headquarters, Umuakah, by some hoodlums, News About Nigeria reports.

This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the Command, ASP Henry Okoye, in a statement on Monday.

He noted that the hoodlums attempted to attack the station on Sunday, 15th September 2024, but were stopped.

According to Okoye, three of the hoodlums were killed in the process.

He stated that the Command carried out a successful defensive operation, neutralising the hoodlums who arrived in three Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), and  launched a violent assault on the headquarters with sporadic gunfire.

“In response, the ever gallant operatives swiftly took up defensive positions and engaged the assailants, resulting in the neutralisation of three attackers.

“The remaining assailants, who sustained various gunshot injuries, fled into nearby bushes.

“During the operation, our forces recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun, one AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza,” he added.

He also disclosed that an intense operation, led by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Mr Aboki Danjuma, is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and ensure justice is served.

He reiterated the commitment of the Command in ensuring that there is peace in the state and its environs.

“Danjuma commended the bravery of the operatives, and assured the public that the Command remains committed to enhancing internal security in the state.

“The command will continue to take decisive actions against any threats to public peace,” he added.
