The Osun State Executive Council (SEC) has given the approval for a revised procurement bill aimed at closing gaps in the state’s procurement system, News About Nigeria reports.
Kolapo Alimi, the Osun state’s Information and Public Enlightenment commissioner, disclosed this to journalists in Osogbo.
He stated that the council had endorsed the proposed changes.
The Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has also made moves by sending the bill to the state legislature for consideration, paving the way for its potential enactment.
The council also made several other key decisions, including preparations for the state government’s upcoming second anniversary, recognition of outstanding performance in certain ministries, and enhanced public engagement.
Furthermore, the council instructed the Education Ministry to conduct interviews with teaching applicants who met the established criteria, following the current teacher recruitment drive.
“The Council presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke gave the directive after receiving updated reports from the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Adedipo Eluwole, who briefed the council on the activities leading to this final stage of the exercise,” it reads.
“The Council, while emphasising the need for a meritorious outcome, further directed the ministry to issue a detailed official notice on the interview exercise, listing the dates and venue,” he said.
Alimi noted that the council acknowledged the issuance of letters to teachers on the elongated service programme for which about two thousand beneficiaries have been issued letters of engagement, describing this as part of concerted efforts to bridge the staff shortage within the state school system.
