Your Body Can Reject A Kidney – Aproko Doctor

Nigerian doctor Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, has schooled Nigerians on issues surrounding a kidney transplant.

In a post via his handle on X  while reacting to a comment faulting the Nigerian health system, he said that a body can reject a newly transplanted kidney, News About Nigeria reports.

Recall that the award-winning cinematographer, ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, disclosed that he had a failed kidney transplant.

The music video director disclosed this in a tweet on X on Wednesday, asking his fans and followers to pray for him.

However, a music producer, Cleverly, questioned TG’s decision to have the transplant in Nigeria instead of doing it abroad.

He wrote, “TG Omori must really have a strong hope in this country health system for him to do a whole kidney transplant in Nigeria and Lagos of all Places, instead of flying out of the country to do it.”

Reacting to this, Aproko Doctor noted that it is possible for the body to reject a new kidney, stating that the body treats a new kidney as foreign and fights against it.

He stated, “It’s very possible for your body to reject a new kidney.

“Your body will treat a new kidney as a foreign body and set the immune system against it. Some drugs will be given to reduce the body’s immunity, but that is not a guarantee that it will work.

“The patient cannot control some things that can cause a transplant to be rejected by the body, and as a matter of fact, before you do any transplant surgery, the doctor will tell you that rejection is always a possibility.

“You don’t know the full story, so keep these kind of damaging opinions to yourself.”
