David Hundeyin Raises Alarm, Says Whistleblower PIDOMNIGERIA Is Missing

Investigative journalist David Hundeyin has reported that @PIDOMNIGERIA, an anonymous whistleblower known for exposing corruption within the Nigerian government, has been missing since early August.

Hundeyin, who has maintained contact with PIDOM over the years, sounded the alarm in a detailed Substack post on Thursday.

Hundeyin revealed that he was approached by someone claiming to be a close associate of PIDOM, who provided him with login credentials for PIDOM’s X (formerly Twitter) account.

However, inconsistencies in the associate’s story, failed login attempts, and suspicious hacking activities led Hundeyin to suspect that the Nigerian government might be involved in PIDOM’s disappearance.

The investigative journalist noted that PIDOM has long been a thorn in the side of the Nigerian government due to his high-profile document leaks and exposés, which have embarrassed officials at the highest levels.

These actions have previously resulted in warnings from the presidency and other government bodies, invoking the Official Secrets Act.

The mysterious associate claimed that PIDOM had been arrested on August 5 in Port Harcourt and transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja, where he is allegedly under the purview of the National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC).

However, Hundeyin’s subsequent interactions with the associate and the attempts to gain access to PIDOM’s account raised red flags.

Hundeyin believes the government may be attempting to conceal PIDOM’s fate, sparking serious concerns about the safety of whistleblowers and the state of freedom of speech in Nigeria.

The hashtag #PIDOM has since trended at number one on X Nigeria as users express their concerns and demand answers.

Hundeyin concluded his post with a call for public awareness and action, urging Nigerians to speak out before it’s too late.
