Former United States President Barack Obama has declared his support for the presidential candidate of the Democrats, Kamala Harris, News About Nigeria reports.

At the party’s Tuesday nominating convention, Obama noted that Harris is fit and ready to become president.

He stated that the torch has been passed to Kamala Harris and that the United States is ready for her to become president.

Obama, who was greeted with rapturous applause and cheers at the packed arena hosting the party’s nominating convention, said Vice President Harris would fight for Americans and called her November poll rival Donald Trump “dangerous.”

“Kamala Harris is ready for the job. This is a person who has spent her life fighting for people who need a voice.

“She is someone who sees you and hears you and will get up every single day and fight for you.

“Yes she can,” he said.

His wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, also drummed up support for Harris, saying that “something magically wonderful is in the air. It’s the contagious power of hope.

“My girl Harris is hope, and another rallying cry of my husband’s successful 2008 campaign is making a comeback.”

Speaking also, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, told the convention that Harris is ready.

Commending Obama and Michelle’s speech, he said, “They shared with us how they felt, and we were able to resonate with them.

“They were so real… I could identify with everything they were saying.”

He also urged the people to vote for Harris, as that would mean voting for Hope.
