One Killed As Gunmen Kidnap Anambra Youths Commissioner, Wife On Their Way To Abuja

Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted the Anambra State Commissioner for Youths Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife.

According to reports, an aide of the commissioner, whose name was given as Kpajie ABK Offiah, who is an Onitsha youth and a stalwart of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who was travelling with them, was shot dead by the kidnappers.

News About Nigeria gathered that the commissioner and his wife were on their way to Abuja for the wedding of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s daughter when they were kidnapped at the Kogi axis of the route.

Governor Soludo’s daughter’s wedding will take place on Saturday, August 17th, 2024 in Abuja.

Their abduction has been confirmed by the Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Christian Aburime.

According to Aburime, the Anambra state government was yet to find out the exact location where the incident happened as Ubiaja, Edo State, was mentioned as well as Kogi State.

Similarly, no fewer than 20 medical students from the University of Jos were kidnapped in Otukpo in Benue State on Thursday evening.

Confirming their abduction, the state police spokesperson, Sewuese Anene, on Friday revealed that the incident happened at 5.30 p.m.

Giving details, Anene said the students who were travelling to Enugu for their annual Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students convention were ambushed and kidnapped in Otukpo.

She said an investigation into the incident was ongoing, adding that there was no additional information at the time of filing this report.

“A report was received that medical students from Jos were on their way from Jos to Enugu and were kidnapped around Otukpo. No fewer than 20 students were ambushed and kidnapped around Otukpo. They are coming from Jos.”
