On Friday, Chinese firm, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd. released one of the three Nigerian Airbus A330 aircraft that were detained in France following a court order from a Paris judicial court.
News About Nigeria earlier reported that the firm seized a Dassault Falcon 7X, a Boeing 737-7N6/BBJ, and an Airbus A330-243 belonging to the Nigerian federal government, which were stationed at Paris-Le Bourget and Basel-Mulhouse airports following a French court order obtained by the company.
The company’s suit against the federal government is over breach of an agreement entered with the Ogun State government.
However, in a fresh development on Friday, the company announced that it has released one of the seized jets as a “goodwill gesture” ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s upcoming meeting with France President, Emmanuel Macron.
In the statement, the company revealed that the President is now permitted to use the Airbus A330, which is currently detained in France for his trip.
The statement reads, “Zhongshan has consistently acted reasonably and fairly in a legal dispute with Nigeria, which it did not initiate. The company has been informed that an Airbus A330, currently detained in France due to a French court order obtained by Zhongshan, is needed by the President of Nigeria for his upcoming meeting with President Macron next week. As a goodwill gesture, Zhongshan has lifted the seizure, allowing the aircraft to be used for the President’s trip.”
“Zhongshan remains committed to negotiations with the Nigerian government, with hopes of reaching a reasonable compromise swiftly.”
