Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu welcomed his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the Lagos State House on Monday during a courtesy visit, News About Nigeria reports.

Governor Sanwo-Olu shared photos from the visit on his social media, noting the importance of their conversation.

“Today, I welcomed my brother and predecessor, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, back to Lagos House on a courtesy visit.

“Our conversation centred around the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation already in place. I value his perspective as we all work together to ensure that Lagos remains on the path of growth and development,” he wrote.

Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, mentioned that the discussion focused on the progress and future trajectory of Lagos State.

“The two leaders held a deep conversation around the development of Lagos State, her economic trajectory, and position as a socio-political stabiliser in the subregion,” Akosile stated.

This visit follows Governor Sanwo-Olu’s previous acknowledgment of Ambode’s contributions to Lagos, especially when the former governor turned 60 in June 2023.

At that time, Sanwo-Olu praised Ambode for his role in the state’s growth, particularly in the finance sector, where he served as Accountant-General and later as the 14th governor.

”Mr Akinwunmi Ambode dedicated his young and adult life to the service of Lagos state, first as a civil servant and later as the 14th governor of our dear state.

”As Council Treasurer, Auditor General for Local Government, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Accountant-General of Lagos state, he displayed a high level of integrity, dedication and professionalism to service in the public sector.

”He recorded the same achievements as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and as the state’s Accountant General,” Sanwo-Olu said.
