Popular cross-dresser and social media influencer Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been released from prison after serving a four-month sentence.
News About Nigeria reported that Bobrisky was sentenced by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court after pleading guilty to a three-count charge of naira abuse and mutilation.
Bobrisky’s release occurred in the early hours of the morning under tight security.
All entry and exit points of the prison were heavily guarded to prevent fans and well-wishers from accessing the influencer.
On Monday, August 5, 2024, Bobrisky was seen celebrating his release with friends. A video surfaced showing him enjoying the song “Egwu” by Mohbad and Chike, surrounded by jubilant friends celebrating his freedom.

In another video, the self-proclaimed ‘Mummy of Lagos’ greeted her fans who had come to welcome her.
“Hello guys, it’s your Mummy of Lagos… I have missed you guys so much. I can’t wait to have you guys, like give you guys what you have missed,” he said.
Bobrisky’s imprisonment began on April 5, 2024, when Justice Awogboro sentenced him to six months without the option of a fine for abuse and mutilation of the naira.
The judge stressed that the punishment was intended to serve as a deterrent to others who might commit similar offenses.
During the trial, Bobrisky admitted to misusing the naira but pleaded for mercy, claiming ignorance of the law.
“My Lord, I wish that you can give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money. I will not repeat it again, my lord. I regret my actions. I’m a first-time offender,” he stated.
Despite his appeal, Justice Awogboro reminded him that ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it.
Bobrisky offered to use his social media influence to educate his followers on the legal implications of spraying money.
