On Saturday, the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters in Lagos State vowed to storm the streets starting Monday if the government does not grant their demands.
Speaking for the protesters, one of their organisers and a youth rights activist, Hassan Soweto, said this while addressing the gathering at the Gani Fawehinmi Park on Saturday.
News About Nigeria recalls that a court order obtained before the start of the nationwide protest restricted all protests in the state to the park.
However, the protesters have now said that they would cease occupying the park in Ojota and start marching through the streets if their demands were not met by Sunday night.
Soweto revealed that by Monday, they would take their march to Alausa, the seat of the Lagos government, if the government did not act.
He further noted that there would be no protest at the park tomorrow (Sunday) so that residents would be able to go to their various places of worship to pray for peace in the land.
However, in a fresh development on Saturday evening, President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale revealed that the President will on Sunday address Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast at 7 am.
Speaking in a statement, Ajuri urged television, radio, and other electronic media outlets to plug into the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.
Though the reason for the nationwide broadcast was not captured in the statement, it is obvious that the President would finally address it tomorrow.
