Kwankwaso Cautions Nigerians Against Protests, Advocates For Democratic Change

Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has issued a clarion call to Nigerians over the planned protests.

News About Nigeria reports that Kwankwaso urged citizens to embrace democratic channels as the most effective means of driving change, rather than resorting to protests.

In a personally signed statement made available to the press in Kano, Kwankwaso emphasised that meaningful and lasting transformation can only be achieved through the electoral process.

Kwankwaso’s message comes at a time when Nigerians are grappling with the consequences of leadership failures since 2007, which have culminated in widespread hardship.

He acknowledged the collective yearning for a better Nigeria but cautioned against the potential risks associated with protests, which often degenerate into violence, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of property, and social unrest.

He, however, urged Nigerians to harness the power of their votes as a potent tool for change.

The NNPP leader stated that good governance and adherence to the rule of law are essential for addressing the challenges facing the nation.

Earlier, Egbetokun said the police have “credible intelligence” that foreign mercenaries are involved in the planned protest.

He also cautioned that a peaceful protest in the country at the moment may be “ill-timed”.

The federal and state governments, including President Bola Tinubu, have appealed to the youths to shelve the planned protest.

Religious and traditional institutions have equally called for the cancellation of the planned demonstration.

The military and the Department of State Services (DSS) said there are indications that the protest would be hijacked to perpetuate violence.
