The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum released a communiqué at the end of its meeting in Enugu State on Wednesday.

News About Nigeria reports that the communiqué was signed by Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, and Governor of Bauchi State.

Governors elected on the platform of the PDP criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government for its handling of the country’s economy.

The forum expressed their discontent with the current state of the economy and the government’s policies, which they believe have led to widespread hardship and suffering among Nigerians.

The governors also frowned at the protracted minimum wage negotiation, urging that the issue be resolved as soon as possible in consideration of the various levels of government.

The meeting, chaired by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, deliberated on various issues affecting the party and the nation, including the state of the party, the forthcoming congress, the economy, minimum wage negotiations, and inter-governmental relations.

The communiqué resolved that the upcoming party congresses must be all-inclusive, transparent, fair, and in strict compliance with the party’s constitution.

It also admonished parties to ensure that campaigns are issue-based, violence-free, and in strict compliance with the Electoral Act.

On the economy, the forum expressed dismay and grave concern over the mismanagement of the economy by the APC-led Federal Government.

It also called for a substantial salary raise for workers, noting that Labour’s demand is eminently justified.

The forum commended the governors of PDP-controlled states for their innovative approaches to governance and promised to bring back the good old days of low inflation rates, affordable food, fuel, and transportation.

Those in attendance included Governors Siminalayi Fubara, Peter N. Mba, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Umo Eno, Douye Diri, Sheriff Oborevwori, Godwin Obaseki, Seyi Makinde, Caleb Mutfwang, Agbu Kefas, and Dauda Lawal.
