Following the order of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that Philip Shaibu be reinstated as the Edo state deputy governor, the embattled PDP chieftain has appreciated God, noting that his reinstatement was divinely orchestrated by Him.
News About Nigeria earlier reported that the court nullified Shaibu’s impeachment on Wednesday.
Delivering judgement on the matter, Justice James Omotosho, ordered his reinstatement to office on the grounds that the Edo State House of Assembly failed to comply with due process in the impeachment.
The court also set aside the appointment of the new Deputy Governor of the State, Omobayo Godwins, who replaced Shaibu.
Reacting to the judgement while speaking to newsmen on the court premises, Shaibu said the development was a product of prayers offered by Nigerians.
While dedicating his victory to God, he also lauded Justice Omotosho for his fair judgement, adding that he has helped restore his confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
He also appreciated the many Nigerians who prayed for him to get justice.
He said, “I want to thank Justice James Omotosho for his courage, he has restored the confidence that truly, the judiciary is the last hope of a common man and as a common person, justice has been done. Many Nigerians told me that they were praying for me. I want to tell them that God has answered our prayers. I dedicate this to God. I trust God that this judgement has reaffirmed the foundation of democracy in Nigeria.”
