Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, has declared that the recent fire incident at the church’s headquarters was not an accident but a divine opportunity for greater things.

He made this statement during a live Sunday service at the church’s campground in Asese.

News About Nigeria reported that social media was flooded on Sunday morning with videos showing the church building in Oregun, Ikeja, engulfed in flames.

Pastor Oyakhilome addressed the congregation, stressing that events in the life of a believer are never coincidental.

“Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident,” he said. “During the 2001 Ikeja cantonment bombing incident, the building vibrated so much that we thought it would collapse. I resolved that if it did collapse, I would build a bigger, better one. It didn’t collapse, and when we had engineers inspect it, they found it was still structurally sound.”

Reflecting on the recent fire, he continued, “Now that this has happened, we will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one, and the devil will lick his wounds.”

At the time of reporting, firefighters from the Lagos Fire Service were on the scene to control the blaze, and no casualties were reported.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire ignited as members were preparing for Sunday service, spreading rapidly and causing huge damage to the building and nearby structures.

While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, preliminary reports suggest it may have been triggered by an electrical spark in the power generator house.

The fire resulted in the destruction of property valued at millions of naira, with severe damage to the church’s generator and power houses.
