Ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, which is on Sunday, June 16, 2024, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 3,168 personnel to ensure peace throughout the festive season, News About Nigeria reports.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Chapter of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Abdullahi, who disclosed the deployment in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, their deployment was approved by the State Commandant, Mohammed Lawal Falala.
In the statement, the NSCDC noted that the officers are to work with other security operatives to ensure that residents abide by the law throughout the festival.
Abdullahi further stated that the officers are to also ensure that motorists and road users abide by traffic rules and that there is a free flow of traffic before, during, and after the celebration.
The commandant also tasked all officers with ensuring the protection of all critical national assets and infrastructure as enshrined in the Act establishing the Corps.
The statement partly reads, “The State Commandant, Mohammed Lawal Falala, has approved the deployment of Three thousand One hundred and Sixty-eight (3,168) personnel to cover Eid-el Kabir celebrations in Kano. The officers are to work in liaison and synergy with men of the Nigerian Police, DSS, FRSC, KAROTA, etc, in maintaining law and order as well as a free flow of traffic before, during, and after the festive period.”
Additionally, the people of the state were tasked with complying with the officers so they could enjoy a peaceful Sallah Celebration
“Consequently, the good people of Kano are hereby enjoined to cooperate with security agents and obey law and order for peaceful Eid-el Kabir celebrations in the state,” the statement added.
