An employee of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Khalid Bichi was on Friday night murdered by unknown gunmen in Maitama, Abuja.
News About Nigeria reports that the middle-aged man was shot multiple times by the assailants while out getting food, just before 9 pm.
According to reports, he was rushed to Maitama General Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The deceased until his death kept an active presence on social media, where he used the username @Khalid Bichi.
A funeral prayer is set be held at Abuja National today, followed by his burial at 1:30 pm.
This incident comes just four days after a similar attack in the Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where 13 persons were kidnapped by suspected gunmen.
The attack on Piko Community occurred barely a week after a similar invasion by gunmen on Bmuko community in the same Bwari area council, where four residents were kidnapped and are still being held by their captors.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen stormed the community in the wee hours of Sunday, carrying out the operation without any challenge from security agencies. The Madaki of the community, Chief John Jatau, confirmed the kidnap of 10 residents and four Fulani herdsmen during the attack, with one person escaping among the four herdsmen from the kidnappers’ custody.
The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N900 million to free the abducted persons.
“The major challenge the community faced last night in terms of communication to others was, as a result of no telecommunication network in the village, so they picked people from house to house. From the community, they picked about 13 people, and later released three.
“The Madaki of Piko, told me that they have called and they demanded a ransom of N900,000,000. They picked about four Fulani people and one of them was released,” the source said.
