Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Raji, the paramount ruler of Iba Kingdom, has taken office as the new chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Lagos State, News About Nigeria reports.

This is an important moment for the association following a period of suspension that lasted over 15 months.

The inauguration ceremony for Oba Adeshina and his executive team was held in Abuja on Thursday, with the presence of the association’s National Executive Council.

The Federal Government’s prompt intervention enabled the conflict to be resolved, paving the way for this new chapter in RTEAN’s history.

During the inauguration, Musa Maitakobi, President of RTEAN, addressed the newly elected executives, stressing the importance of maintaining order and professionalism in their roles.

He urged members to prioritise peace and peaceful resolutions over protests or violent behaviour, stressing the need to eradicate hooliganism or thuggery from motor parks nationwide.

“I want all of you to know that it is our duty to eradicate hooliganism or thuggery in any motor park throughout the federation. But please keep peace; that is the solution to achieving your aim,” Maitakobi stated.

Maitakobi also directed his expectations towards Oba Adeshina, tasking him with resolving any lingering issues within the Lagos State branch of RTEAN.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Adeshina expressed his joy and gratitude for being entrusted with the chairmanship role.

“I pledge to do my best and carry RTEAN to a higher level. I plead for all the members and executives to work together as one family,” Oba Adeshina said.
