The Rivers State Police Command has successfully exhumed the body of Gift Okpara, widely known as ‘2 Baba’, a notorious cultist and prime suspect in the murder of former Divisional Police Officer Bako Angbashim in Odiemudie community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state, in September last year.
News About Nigeria gathered that this development follows recent reports by the police stating that the feared leader of the Iceland cult was killed during a joint security raid in the Idu-Ekpeye community in Ahoada East.
A spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said a human skull, assorted rifles, explosives, and various charms, among others, were recovered during the last raid in his new hideout, which led to his death.
However, loyalists of 2 Baba had allegedly snatched his body and escaped, leading to ongoing efforts by law enforcement to recover it.
In an operation conducted at midnight on Thursday, police operatives, acting on intelligence, tracked down the people loyal to the deceased cult leader.
These suspects reportedly provided information that led the police to a deep forest where 2 Baba’s remains were buried.
A video, which has since gone viral, captured the moment when operatives used torchlights to dig the ground, exhuming the decomposing corpse of the late cultist.
The Rivers State Police Command has scheduled a media briefing for 11 am today to provide detailed information about the recovery of 2 Baba’s body.
Angbashim was ambushed and captured by the Iceland cult gang in the Odiemudie community, where his body was dismembered and the gruesome act was filmed.
Since then, the police have been on the trail of 2 Baba, engaging in multiple operations to apprehend him and dismantle the Iceland cult’s structure.
