The late Senator Bukar Ibrahim, former governor of Yobe State, has been laid to rest in Saudi Arabia.

News About Nigeria gathered that the funeral ceremony took place at the Grand Mosque, Masjid Al Haram, following the dawn prayers.

The event was attended by mourners who prayed for the repose of the departed soul.

Around 20 individuals, including Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, were honoured with funeral prayers after the Fajr prayers at the Grand Mosque.

The funeral prayers were conducted twice to accommodate the deceased.

Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim passed away on Sunday while receiving medical treatment in Saudi Arabia.

His death at the age of 73 marked the end of a distinguished political career that also included three terms in the Senate.

The current governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni expressed shock and regret over the loss, extending condolences to the family of the deceased.

The governor directed the state government to oversee all aspects of the funeral and condolences, ensuring that the late governor receives a state burial and due honours.

In a statement, Governor Buni said, “This is a huge loss for us at this time, but that is the wish of Allah, our creator. May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Aljannatu Firdaus.”

He urged the people and friends of Yobe State to join in prayers for the repose of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim’s soul during this period of mourning.

Bukar Abba Ibrahim served as the governor of Yobe State for two terms, from May 1999 to May 2007.

During his first term, on August 5, 1993, he restructured the state’s four emirates into 13, a decision later reversed by the military regime of Sani Abacha.
