With a few hours left until its annual “Mercy Conference”, fire has reportedly razed the building of a popular Lagos church, Household of David, which is located in the Ikeja Local Government Area of the state.
News About Nigeria learned that prominent gospel artists and ministers of the gospel were among the people expected to grace the event, which was meant to begin today by 5 p.m.
The Lagos State Fire Service spokesperson, Amodu Shakiri, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, revealed that the fire was caused by the overheating of the church’s auditorium ceiling.
According to him, the ceiling collapsed and ignited the fire that razed the building due to overheating.
Reacting to the incident, the Senior Pastor of the Church, Olusola Osunmakinde, appreciated God for the preservation of his members, as no life was lost or injured by the sudden fire outbreak.
Although the majority of the church’s equipment, including chairs, musical instruments, air conditioners, and a lot more, was destroyed by the fire, Pastor Olusola encouraged his members and the general public to not lose hope in God.
The pastor also stated that the ‘Mercy Conference’, would still be held at the church today regardless of the destruction caused by the fire.
He further stated that he believed in God and that they would have a greater recovery from what they had lost to the fire.
He also warned his members against questioning God for not intervening in the fire outbreak, noting that God is good regardless of the circumstances.
“But you know what? God is God! Sometimes Satan thinks he’s worthy, just like the guy who came out saying ‘Where was your Jesus when it happened?’ but when the Lord finishes with us, he will come and share his testimony,” he added.
