Woman Who Abducted Tenant’s Children Arrested In Abia

A 35-year-old female in Asaba, Delta State, identified as Ifeoma Abonyi, has been arrested by men of the Abia State Police Command for the abduction of her neighbour’s children in the Ubakala Street, Ossai Road, Umuahia, Abia State, News About Nigeria reports.

Her arrest was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, in a statement issued on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwumelie.

According to the statement, Mrs. Ifeanyi Ibe, on the 16th of December, reported the abduction of her children and her neighbours’ by an unidentified tenant.

It was noted that the Abia State Police Command, upon receiving the report, commenced thorough investigations into the matter.

Chinaka also revealed that the suspect had been successfully and positively identified as the tenant responsible for the abduction of the four children.

She confirmed that two out of the four children who were abducted on 16th of December were rescued on 22nd of December 2023, adding that two more children were rescued on Sunday, the 24th of December.

She, however, noted that the rescue mission was possible due to the robust technical intelligence support from the DSS in Abia State.

Recall that the tenants raised an alarm last Saturday when they discovered that their new neighbour, who had only just moved in three days earlier, had abducted four of their children.

The tenants who were all women and traders in Umuahia, were Madam Ngozi Kingsley, Madam Ifeanyi Uduma, and Madam Blessing Obasi, all coming from Ebonyi state.
