Ondo Deputy Gov, Others Sheathe Sword, Embrace Peace

The deputy governor, lawmakers and other stakeholders in Ondo State have finally ended the long months of political battle in the state and agreed to embrace peace, News About Nigeria reports.

This decision was arrived at after hours of deliberations between the President and state officials, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.

The issues faced by the deputy governor, lawmakers and other stakeholders in the state had President Tinubu stepping in and eliciting resolve from the opposing factions to embrace peace and maintain the status quo.

The deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, after much deliberations, promised to put everything behind him and carry all state officials along in the decision-making and governance of the state.

According to him, the plans to impeach him and everything that had happened in the past months are all part of politics, therefore, he bears no grudge against anyone.

He stated that just as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu advised, he will maintain the status quo in the state and unite all warring factions, maintaining that he has let go and let God.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring the executive and legislative arm work together in order to make sure governance in the state is on the right track.

He, therefore, urged all members of the State Executive Council to work together with the governor and himself in ensuring that the dividend of democracy is brought to the people of Ondo State.

The Speaker of the House, Oladiji Olamide, also resolved to halt all impeachment moves against Aiyedatiwa.
